Chief Minister reviews works under MGNREGS

The meeting of Chhattisgarh Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Council (MGNREGC) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at Chief Minister’s House here on Thursday. The Chief Minister reviewed the works under Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) through video conferencing in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Baghel has directed the officials of Panchayat and Rural Development Department to sanction vermicompost tanks for manufacturing of vermicompost at gothans from MGNREGS on priority. Chief Minister Baghel has directed the officers to complete construction of platforms at paddy procurement centres and construction of shade at platforms on priority soon.
 
He said that minimum one shade must be constructed at a paddy procurement centre. It was informed in the meeting that 4,649 platforms have been sanctioned, in which constructions of 4630 platforms have been completed. The Chief Minister has directed the officers to initiate necessary processes for sanctioning 5,500 gothans from MGNREGS. Around 4,500 gothans have been constructed so far. Active self-help groups should be allowed to conduct economic activities at the gothans and livelihood centre should be sanctioned at gothans on priority.
 
It was decided in the meeting to send a proposal for providing employment to more people to MGNREGS, urban MGNREGS, increase the wage rate of MGNREGS and providing 200 days employment in MGNREGS to the Central Government for its approval. The officers have been instructed to conduct a survey for how many people get benefit from nursery, well and dabri construction done under the MGNREGS. It was also informed in the meeting that Chhattisgarh has secured third position in the country to provide 100 days employment to labourers under the MGNREGS. 84,455 families have been provided employment of 100 days so far. 26,05,000 families have been provided employment under the MGNREGS. Around 2.37 lakh job cards of migrant labourers have been made during their quarantine period. 9,52,00,000 human days of employment against target of 13,50,00,000 for this year have been generated.
 
It was informed in the meeting that the Central government has approved the Chhattisgarh government’s proposal for target of generation of 15 crore human days of employment. Divyangs are being provided employment under the MGNREGS. Over 66,000 structures for ground water conservation on indentified 1406 Narva are under construction. Baghel has directed the Forest Department to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the drains that pass through forest areas.
 
The officers have been directed to promote installation of dung bio-gas plant at the villagers where there are cattle in large number. Panchayat and Rural Department Minister T S Singhdeo, Chief Secretary R P Mandal, Additional Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Gaurav Dwivedi, Secretary of Food Department Dr Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of Tribal Welfare Department D D Singh and MNREGA Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Kaisar Haq were present at the meeting. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Urban Administration and Development Department Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam and Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
