Moudhapara police have launched a hunt for a 23-year-old offender in connection with an alleged shooting that took place in the city on Tuesday morning. “Police have booked a miscreant identified as Aniket Yadav (23), a resident of Jorapara under Moudhapara police station, under Arms Act after he allegedly attacked a person identified as Ajay Pisude (27) with a firearm. It is yet to be ascertained that the firing really took place or not,” said Moudhapara Station House Officer (SHO) Yadumani Sidar. According to police sources, Aniket was allegedly associated with the Raksel gang.

Detailing about the chronology of the incident, SHO Sidar informed that late last night Aniket had a scuffle with Ajay over a petty issue. After learning about Ajay’s presence near Phool Chowk, Aniket reached the spot to settle scores with the victim and trained a firearm on him. Aniket allegedly attempted to shoot but failed following which Ajay and his friend chased him. However, it is yet to be ascertained that the accused was having a country-made pistol or something else.

Moreover, no empty bullet shells were recovered from the crime scene. In his statement to police, the victim alleged that Aniket fired at him but it was missed, added SHO Sidar. Following the complaint of Ajay, police have registered an offence against the accused under Sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Sections of Arms Act and probing the matter further, said SHO Sidar.
