AAI’s team to conduct prior checks before launch of flights from Jagdalpur Airport

Prior to the programme of the Jagdalpur Airport inauguration ceremony on September 21, a 5-member team of Airports Authority of India (AAI) has left for Jagdalpur to maintain the Air Traffic Control System at the new airport. Four of the five 5-members have reached Jagdalpur and the fifth members will reach by Sunday afternoon.
 
These five members belong to three different departments. Three members will look after the work of air traffic control. One member will look after the communication and navigation system. And the fifth member will run the PAPI on standard basis to help the aircraft land so that the aircraft can get the right guidance at the time of landing. Air Traffic Controller’s team includes Rajesh Oraon Assistant General Manager from Nagpur and Prince Chandrakar Assistant Manager from Raipur have been sent from to Jagdalpur on tour for 45 days to check the entire system.
 
The third member Dhruva Singh, a junior executive, from Kolkata has also been posted to Jagdalpur for 45 days. Fourth member of the team, Vishwajit Das, Manager in Communication Navigation, from Raipur, have been sent for 45 days and fifth member Prashant Fulmare, Assistant General Manager Electricity, from Raipur has been sent to repair and make standards of Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). It is worth mentioning that Vishwajit Das is a resident of Jagdalpur.
 
He will also train a technician nominated by the Bastar Collector, so as the local technician can upkeep the PAPI system and they don’t need to rely on Raipur. Prashant Fulmare, Assistant General Manager Electricity is being sent from Raipur for a 2-day tour to repair and make standards for PAPI. They will also train the technician nominated by Collector Bastar on repair of PAPI so that they can maintain it daily and they do not depend on Raipur.
