Recoveries in distt inch closer to 50,000 mark

As many as 1,629 persons tested positive for COVID-19 and 52 died in Nagpur district on Saturday. On one hand, the recoveries inched closer to 50,000 mark. On the other, the cumulative total of deaths due to COVID-19 also inched closer to 2,000 mark. As per the district administration’s COVID-19 bulletin, Nagpur district recorded 1,629 new cases including 370 from rural areas, 1,253 from Nagpur city alone, and six from outside the district.

The city was ahead of rural areas in deaths too. Of a total 52 deaths registered on Saturday, 12 were from rural areas, 34 from Nagpur city, and six were non-residents of Nagpur. The cumulative total of positive cases in the district rose to 62,531. Of this, Nagpur city alone reported the caseload of 49,682. The rural areas of district reported cumulative total of 12,488. So far, 361 patients have been from outside Nagpur district. With 52 deaths registered in district on Saturday, the cumulative death toll rose to 1,992, of which 328 were from rural areas, 1,485 from Nagpur city, and 179 from outside the district. On a brighter side, total 1,550 persons recovered on Saturday.
 
The margin between persons recovering and persons testing positive was just 79, a narrow one. This is probably a good sign, after the wide difference over the past several days. Further, the cumulative number of recoveries inched closer to 50,000 on Saturday. The total recoveries stood at 49,946 on Saturday, including 40,936 in Nagpur city and 9,010 in rural areas.
 
The recoveries also included the patients who were in home isolation. The recovery rate at 79.88 per cent, registered slight increase as compared to that a day earlier. The total number of active patients was 10,593 including 5,279 in home isolation.
