UG exams are being conducted in a disciplined manner

On one hand, Higher Education Minister Uday Samant and his deputy Prajakt Tanpure are still holding deliberations with Vice-Chancellors of traditional universities about preparedness for holding examinations. On the other hand, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has not only successfully completed its examinations of Post-Graduate courses but declared results too. MUHS could successfully do this, thanks to Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, who happens to be Pro-Chancellor of MUHS, Vice-Chancellor Dr Dileep Mhaisekar, and the entire team.

Despite COVID-19 pandemic, MUHS conducted offline examinations, which was necessary for health sciences courses without any untoward incident. Dr Mhaisekar had sought guidelines from apex bodies like Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, AYUSH, etc., regarding holding of examinations. All the bodies asked the university to go ahead with the plan of conducting proper examinations. Amit Deshmukh had submitted the details to Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who gave the nod.

There was no further deliberation of counter attack. Now the result is for all to see. MUHS started examinations of Under-Graduate courses of Medical, Dental, Ayurved, Unani, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, etc., in the first week of this month. The examinations will conclude on October 3, followed by practicals.

“Considering the safety of students amid novel coronavirus pandemic situation, we have increased the number of centres to 270 and we have witnessed 95 per cent attendance. We have given the guidelines issued by Central Government regarding Covid-19 safety, to our centres and instructed them to follow those scrupulously. Everybody at the centre has to wear mask, apply sanitiser. Over 9,500 students have applied as examinees,” Dr Ajit Pathak, Controller of Examinations, told ‘The Hitavada’. Under the guidance of Dr Dileep Mhaisekar and Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohan Khamgaonkar, the team is working hard.
