Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra said ‘Culture is uplifted, where women are respected, then society is developed and becomes stronger’ while addressing a programme in Datia on Sunday. During the programme, Minister Dr Narottam Mishra handed over the cheque of Rs 1.65 crore for various commercial activities to 150 women Self-Help Groups in the premises of Khairi Mata in Datia. On this occasion, Minister also gave gifts for various constructions and development works worth Rs 95 lakh.
 
The minister in his addressal said, “There is great importance of the three including Maa, Mahatma and Paramatma in human life. He further stated that “Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched many schemes to empower women in the economic and social sectors. Schemes including ‘Ladli Lakshmi Yojana’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana’ have also been started for girls.
 
The State Government has also provided 33% reservation for daughters in police recruitment as well as 33 per cent reservation in urban bodies and Panchayat. Besides, the State Government is celebrating Garib Kalyan Week for one week marking the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Keeping in view the service and dedication of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, financial assistance has been provided to empower women self-help groups so that they can start their business in a better way.” In Datia, there are over 36,000 women connected with 3071 women self-help groups and 2252 SHGs have been provided Rs 3 crore for various activities.
