NVCC demands Govt to extend date of filing GST returns

NAG Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC), one of the apex body of traders in the region with 13 lakh membership has written to the Union Finance Ministry and Union Government of India for extension of dates for filing GST returns. Ashwin Mehadia, President said, “Traders have incurred huge loss in business during the lockdown.
 
The relaxation in compliance given by the Government under the GST during the lockdown period is very little and traders demand more relaxation.” Mehadia demanded that Union Government should announce more relaxation in compliance of GST. CA Ritesh Mehata, Co-Convenor of NVCC Sub-committee for Direct and Indirect Taxes suggested on behalf of NVCC.
 
He pointed out that for GST audit and filing returns for the fiscal 2018-19 should be extended upto March 31, 2021. For fiscal 2019-2020, the time limit for correction in bills, debit/credit notes on GST portal which is upto October 20, should be extended to March 31, 2021. The Finance Minister had announced that late fee will be taken for filing returns from 2017 to 2020 till September 2020.
 
The last date for which should be extended upto December 30, 2020 and other demands among the other demands. Ramavtar Totla, Secretary of NVCC said the establishment cost and other monthly commitments of traders are constant, whereas the monthly income has been reduced and traders are facing financially critical condition, hence the Government should consider the demand of the traders.
