RAIPUR,

Coming down heavily on the ruling Congress Government for its opposition of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, which were passed in the Parliament recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Vishnu Deo Sai said that it is misleading the people. The BJP State President while commenting on the ruling Congress Government mulling the idea of knocking the doors of the court, said that it is the duty of the Opposition to oppose and it is most welcome to knock the doors of court. He said that with the implementation of these Bills, farmers will get back their lost privilege and will be freed from the clutches of middlemen.

Addressing a virtual press meet on Monday, the BJP State President said that India is an agriculture economy, where farmers contribute significantly to the GDP. Due to which the Centre started working with the goal of doubling the income of farmers. The MSP was raised by one and a half times the cost price apart from introducing Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Card, Neem Coated Urea, or other essential work to empower the farmers.

The Centre has introduced two Bills in this session. APMC Amendment and contract farming is an attempt to solve the problems faced by farmers for 70 years. The Modi Government has tried to give farmers other options than the existing ones through this Bill. Farmers can now decide whether to adopt the old method to sell his crop or to sell his crop as per the law brought by the Modi Government. He said that both the Bills are based on the recommendations made by Swaminathan Commission. Sai said that as BJP State President he can vouch that Minimum Support Price will continue and in future efforts will be made towards hiking the same. He said that with contract farming, there will now be only agreement related to the crop between the farmer and the buyer.

The land will remain with the farmer. The Congress party is trying to confuse the farmers. He appealed to the farmers not to fall for the misleading statements being made by the Congress. Sai said that the Congress should clarify whether they stand with farmers or they want to oppose these Bills to favour middlemen. When the Congress Party included the same things in its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, they liked it. And now, when the Modi government passes it, the Congress party is in pain. It is clear that the BJP is with the farmers and the Congress party is in favour of the middlemen. Adding that both these Bills have been brought with the sole intention of freeing the farmers from the hands of middlemen, Sai said that till date the farmers used to sell their produce through Mandi.

Now the PM Modi led Central Government has given another option to farmers, wherein, along with mandi, farmers can sell their produce to anyone in any part of the country. Congress is misleading people that mandi arrangement will be finished, MSP will be withdrawn, etc, but nothing of the sort will happen. All these things will continue as usual. When the PM Modi-led Government had introduced Citizenship Amendment Bill, the Congress had tried to create confusion among people. It also did the same thing during the Rafale deal and it never wanted that Rafale deal should take place.
