Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra has continued the special education concession for wards of officers and staff of military and paramilitary forces in Agriculture Universities of the State. As per the Government Resolution (GR), students whose parents have posted in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh will get admission in Agriculture Universities directly.

One extra seat along with the regular seats will be reserved for such students in all four Agriculture Universities of the State including Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola; Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Ahmednagar; Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani and Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Ratnagir. Earlier, the GR allowed all wards of officers and staff of military and paramilitary forces who have been posted in bordering areas with Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

But, the new GR is applicable only for posting in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh areas. This decision will help those students who are interested in agricultural studies and whose parents have transferable job due to the demands of Indian Armed Forces. Many military and paramilitary personnel not allowed to keep their families at bordering areas. Hence, they keep them at their previous posting places or at their native States. Such students will get benefited with this decision.
