With the number of initiatives being taken by the civic body and hard work by frontline healthworkers, the Covid-19 recovery rate of Nagpur district has gone up and left even the national average behind. On Tuesday, the recovery rate of Nagpur witnessed 83.18% which is almost three per cent more than the national average.

There is still a gap of understanding between the implementers and the actual workers but since last few days the gap is being reduced as the communication in both got widened. On Tuesday, 1,662 persons became corona-free taking the cumulative recovery of the district to 55,212. Though less testing is being witnessed by the district, comparatively, the testing on Tuesday was quite good. The new coronavirus positive cases registered are 1,265 of which 925 are from Nagpur city while 340 are from Nagpur rural. With these the cumulative positive reached 66,001. The number of testing has also saw rise on Tuesday than on Monday. On Monday, the total testing was 3,888 which got doubled on Tuesday to 6,759. District witnessed 46 persons died of this dreaded virus in one single day on Tuesday.
 
The number of deaths mounted to 1,953. Of 46, the city witnessed 41 deaths while 5 persons were the residents of rural part. Of the cumulative deaths 1,599 were from city and 354 were the residents of rural Nagpur. The samples examined on Monday are 6,759. The total active cases witnessed reduction to 9,018 with 3,798 people despite being positive have put themselves under home isolation because of sans symptoms. The samples came positive were examined at virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (183), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (196), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (128), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (44), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (101), private laboratories and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (356), Antigen (265). 
 
Mission COVID Care by IMA Nagpur giving results Coronavirus Pandemic has put every health care facility on toes. Managing this pandemic has become a demanding job for every doctor irrespective of its specialty, Government authorities and healthcare facilities. Indian Medical Association (IMA) being the apex body representing the doctor’s fraternity is doing yeoman’s services for doctors as well as general public right from educating people in relation to current covid scenario to actually providing Covid care to needy patients. Recent guidelines by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare – Government of India (MOHFW) suggested that a large number of asymptomatic cases and very mild symptomatic and pre-symptomatic cases of COVID-19 can be treated as home isolation patients. For such patients, who are in home isolation IMA, Nagpur has started free tele-counseling.
 
One-to-one counseling is being done with patients by the doctors. Around 1,500 patients are getting benefitted by this endeavour of IMA. IMA, Nagpur published an e-Booklet on “Guidelines and Information for COVID Care”. This booklet contains all necessary information regarding home isolation, guidelines and protocols to be followed by the patients and the caretakers in home isolation. It also contains a FAQs, helpline numbers of NMC, list of Government and private Covid Hospitals, ambulance services available, lists of Covid testing centers, RTPCR Centers and list of Zonal Medical Officers. "Covid Samvad" a Facebook Live program is being conducted by IMA in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). In this program doctors are interacting with people and answering to their questions and educating them regarding Covid, Home Isolation, myths and facts about Covid.
 
It is an ongoing project in which more than 1,00,000 people are viewing and interacting with IMA doctors daily. Raising to the occasion, in one of the most selfless act more than 100 IMA, Nagpur doctors have volunteered their names for physical duties in different Covid care centers. IMA took initiative for screening and health checkup for more than 15000 migrant laborers in transit camps to facilitate them to reach their home town. Following the mantra of 'Prevention is better than cure' IMA, Nagpur released a educational video on social media educating the ways to prevent the spread of Coroana..it was widely circulated and appreciated by people.
 
A mobile van with pre-recorded audio message is moving in the city creating awareness on preventive measures on Covid 19 and precautions to be taken during lockdown and during different stages of unlock. Posters depicting social norms to be followed were displayed in prominent places. In association with various social organisations and groups IMA undertook awareness programmes to educate people during unlock period regarding new normal life. IMA doctors also helped in raising the awareness regarding covid by showing various educational messages on banner and posters with the help of its members at various popular locations in Nagpur city.
