Describing the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 as well as the Essential Commodities Act Ordinance 2020 passed in the Parliament, as in broad interest of farmers, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. “Mandis will not be closed due to the new law, nor would it affect the minimum support price,” he claimed.

He added that Prime Minister has always been working as a great well-wisher of farmers. He wants a big change in the economic condition of the farmers. E-trading and farmers have been provided with options to sell their crops anywhere.

All these measures will provide more seucrity to the farmers. He said that former government cheated the farmers by promising to waive off their loans and instead of giving them real benefits, deprived them of insurance premium amount and relief amount. State Government paid the past year’s dues of Rs 2200 crore. As a result, Rs 1986 crore was given to 8.5 lakh farmers of the State.

Not only this, the former government discarded the loan policy at zero percent interest. They did not even pay nearly Rs 470 crore of Bhavantar amount of soyabean to the farmers. He was addressing the programme organised to distribute KCC to farmers.
