Traders have strongly opposed a Covid Care Centre reportedly coming up at Avanti Vihar main road. Avanti Vihar Vyapari Sangh and residents staged demonstration in protest against the proposed Covid Centre and submitted a memorandum to the Naib Tehsildar. The Sangh members said that they would submit memorandum to health officials on Wednesday.

Shreyansh Hospital, situated on the main road of Avanti Vihar, has been identified for Covid Centre, which has not gone down well with the residents of the colony. In protest against the proposed Covid Centre, Vyapari Sangh members and residents holding placards and shouting slogans staged demonstration against the proposed Centre and warned of intensifying demonstration followed by indefinite strike. Vyapari Sangh members said that around 1.50 lakh commuters used to pass through this route everyday.

If the Covid Centre comes up on the main road, it may lead to transmission of disease in large scale in the colonies like Avanti Vihar, Kavita Nagar, Gitanjali Nagar, Gayatri Nagar etc. Residents were in fear and they are angry with the decision. One of the local residents Yogendra Bharadwaj, Sangh patron Rajkumar Rathi and others said that they would continue their protest. They said that Covid centre should not be opened in the residential areas. Sangh members alleged that the hospital director given permission for the Covid Centre for money. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Meera Baghel said that she would look into the matter.
