Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) State President Amit Jogi has written to AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi demanding immediate reinstatement of 13,000 NHM health workers by withdrawing their termination notices and FIR orders. In his letter to the AICC General Secretary, Amit Jogi reminisced her statement that she had made in UP – ‘Sanvida nahi Samman Chahiye’. In his letter to the AICC General Secretary, Jogi stated that the ruling Congress Government in Chhattisgarh has crossed every level of dictatorship.

He demanded that the ruling Congress government in Chhattisgarh should be asked to withdraw termination notices and FIR orders issued to the striking NHM contractual health workers and reinstate them as regular employees. Amit Jogi said that the AICC General Secretary who is also the AICC Congress In charge for Uttar Pradesh has been vocal against Uttar Pradesh government on issues of employment and regularisation of contractual and daily wage workers. Reiterating her slogan ‘Sanvida nahi Samman Chahiye’, Jogi said this slogan has filled new energy among the contractual workers in Uttar Pradesh. Hence, he has complete faith in her that she will be supporting the regularisation demands put forth by thousands of NHM contractual health workers.

He said in the Congress manifesto for the 2018 Assembly election, the Congress had promised to carry out their regularisation within ten days of coming to power. But unfortunately, two years have passed, instead of regularisation, the ruling Congress government is trying to crush the NHM contractual health workers for raising demands of regularisation.Amit Jogi said these NHM contractual health workers had worked selflessly during the COVID-19 pandemic without fearing for their lives.

Many of them had been infected with the infection while few others had lost their lives as well. Despite all adverse conditions they continued to execute their duties. For the last 18 months they were demanding for their regularization but unfortunately the ruling Congress government here forgot its promises after coming to power. Under such situations they became compelled to go on strike as there was no other way out. Amit Jogi in his letter to Priyanka Gandhi said the ruling Congress government should have taken the development sensitively and fulfill its promises but instead they issued termination and FIR orders against these contractual workers. Under such situations the state government is not only playing with the lives of these contractual workers but has jeopardized the lives of people in Chhattisgarh.
