The executive body meeting of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) was held in presence of Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge P L Punia, CPCC President Mohan Markam and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel through video conferencing on Wednesday to chalk out strategies for the Congress party’s proposed nationwide agitation against the controversial farm bill passed by Parliament. Addressing the meeting, Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge P L Punia said that the Congress party has decided to carry out a nationwide agitation against the controversial farm bills passed by Parliament.
 
Several activities including press conferences, marches and a Kisan Sammelan will be held in the State headquarters besides conducting activities by the Congress leaders on the social media platform on September 26.
 
The Congress leaders will undertake a march up to the Raj Bhavan in the state headquarters and submit a memorandum to the Governor addressed to President Ramnath Kovind seeking withdrawal of the bill on September 29. A Kisan Sammelan will be organised in Raipur on October 10. A door-to-door signature campaign against the farm bills will be conducted in the state from October 2 to October 31, Punia added. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government for passing the three controversial farm bills in the Parliament thereby giving a blow on the federal structure. These three farm bills are anti-farmer, said Baghel.
 
In his address, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary for Chhattisgarh Dr Chandan Yadav said that Congress Government in Chhattisgarh is pro-farmer and it has taken several welfare decisions for the farmers of the state. When the farmers are attacked, the Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh will not remain silent, he added. Cabinet Ministers T S Singhdeo, Ravindra Choubey, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Kawasi Lakhma, Guru Rudra Kumar, Amarjeet Bhagat, Umesh Patel, Jaisingh Agrawal, Youth Congress State President Purnachand Koko Padhi, NSUI State President Akash Sharma, Seva Dal State President Arun Tamrakar, Mahila Congress State President Phulodevi Netam, CPCC Vice-President Girish Dewangan, Treasurer Ramgopal Agrawal and other leaders attended the meeting.
