Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the officers of School Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh to ensure better education facilities for children of the State Government-run english medium schools in the state. Chief Minister Baghel held a meeting with the officers of the School Education Department to review the facilities and resources of the English Medium Schools approved by the School Education Department at his official residence on Wednesday. Addressing the meeting, Baghel has asked the officers to develop all kinds of infrastructures in the State government-run english medium schools.
 
The Chief Minister has directed the officers to pay special attention to ensure for providing quality education to the children in the english medium schools. Expressing happiness over admission of children in large numbers in the Government English Medium Schools, Chief Minister Baghel said that parents are approaching the English Medium Schools for admission of their children and this is a good sign. Baghel said that the quality of education in Government english medium Schools should not be lower than Private english medium schools in any situation and it will be the criteria of the success of the Government english medium Schools.
 
He said that in the initial phase, the intention of the State government was to start a Government english nedium school in each district headquarters, which later increased to 40. Due to the demand of parents and children and the enthusiasm of the local administration, this number has now increased to 51. Baghel announced that the State Government has planned to start Government english medium school in all block headquarters of the state from next academic session. The Chief Minister has asked the officials of the Education Department to ensure teaching and learning facilities in 51 english medium schools as well as to make parallel planning for 146 english medium schools to be started in the block headquarters from the next academic session. Baghel has asked the officers to take special attention on appointment of principals and teachers and their training in the Government english medium schools.
 
The Chief Minister has asked the officials to utilise District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund for infrastructure development in the Government english medium schools. Principal Secretary of School Education Department Dr Alok Shukla gave a power point presentation in the meeting about infrastructure development, appointment of principals and teachers on deputation. 51 Government english medium schools have been sanctioned, in which there are 10 schools in Durg district, 4 in Balrampur district, 3 schools each in Raipur, Korba and Bilaspur, 2 schools each in Janjgir-Champa, Bemetara, Koriya, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi and Surguja districts and 2 schools in other districts.
 
The processes of appointment of principals and teachers in Government English Medium Schools will be completed by the end of October. 27,741 children have taken admission in the Government English Medium Schools and online classes have already begun, he added. Infrastructure development in the English Medium Schools is being done at a cost of around Rs 128 crore. It was informed in the meeting that another Rs 81 crore was required. It was also discussed in the meeting that like other schools these schools also require separate uniform, badges and mono for children. School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Parliamentary Advisor to Chief Minister Rajesh Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo, Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Director of Directorate of Public Instruction Jitendra Shukla, Deputy Secretary to Chief Minister Soumya Chourasiya and other officers attended the meeting.
