AAISCB launches scholarship for outstanding sportspersons
 
The scholarship will be given in disciplines like badminton (boys and girls), cricket (boys), chess (boys and girls), carrom (boys and girls), football (boys), kho-kho (girls), table tennis (boys and girls) and volleyball (boys).
 
 
THERE is a great opportunity for city’s sportspersons from various disciplines to show their skills and get a chance to be part of Airports Authority of India Sports Control Board’s (AAISCB) Scholarship Scheme. AAISCB has started a sports scholarship scheme for outstanding sportspersons for the financial year 2021-2022 which will be given to the players over 14 years. The scholarship will be given in disciplines like badminton (boys and girls), cricket (boys), chess (boys and girls), carrom (boys and girls), football (boys), kho-kho (girls), table tennis (boys and girls) and volleyball (boys).
 
For the wards of AAI employee the scholarship will be given to in all recognised categories. Players who have represented in sub-junior, junior, senior national championships, All India Inter University tournaments, national school games in last two years (2018-19 and 2019-20) will be eligible to apply for scholarship, informs a release. The application form for the scholarship scheme can be downloaded from https://www.aai.aero/en/important-links/aai-sports-control-board A total of 85 scholarships will be given in open category while 15 wards of AAI employees will be picked for the same. Selected sportspersons will get a scholarship of Rs 12,000 (per month) in the age group of 14 years and under 18 years while those selected in over 18 years category will get Rs 16,000 per month.
 
The last date of submitting the duly completed and signed application is October 22, 2020. Sportspersons will have to submit the application forms with all the required details along with the seal and designation of recommended persons like Head, Principal of Institution/School, Secretary of the State Federation/National Federation of concerned sports.
 
The scholarship will be given initially for a period of one year which will be extendable based on the individual’s performance, improvement in his/her event. According to the release posted on the website and signed by Gian Batra, General Manger (HR) and Secretary, AAI, Sports Control Board, Airports Authority of India, cases of talented sports persons who are not students may also be taken into consideration for award of scholarship subject to their meeting all requirements and verification/certification by the secretary of the concerned State Federation/National Federation. Similarly, cases of special merit not covered under the above conditions may be considered with the approval of AAI Chairman, adds the release. All applications received within stipulated time shall be considered by a committee duly constituted by the President, AAISCB.
