A PALL of gloom descended on wrestling fraternity of the city as it lost international referee Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Dilip Mahajan. Mahajan, who belonged to Shrimant Sardar Tatyasaheb Gujar Vyayam Shala, Tulsibagh, breathed his last on Monday.
 
The 70-year-old officiated as an international referee for the first time in an event held in Russia. In the same year, he got the Shiv Chhatrapati Award at the hands of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Mahajan, who retired as Nayab Tahsildar form the Revenue Department, was a Member of Maharashtra State Wrestling Council, an office-bearer of Nagpur Nagar Akhada Sanghatna and treasure of Vidarbha Vibhagiya Kusti Sanghatna. Ganesh Kohale, Vice-President, Maharashtra State Wrestling Council; Dilip Itankar, President, Star Academy and Nilesh Raut, Secretary were among those who paid tributes to the departed soul.
