Single day COVID-19 +ve cases below 1,000; recoveries up

On Friday, Nagpur district saw decline in single day coronavirus positive cases since August. The district was recording over 1,000 COVID-19 positive cases daily since August. On some days, the number crossed even 2,000.
The district, for the first time in last two months, witnessed the number falling below 1,000 on Friday as 966 persons have tested positive for the dreaded virus. Of these cases 307 were reported from rural areas while from Nagpur city, 659 positive cases were recorded in last 24 hours. With these new cases, the cumulative positive cases reached 72,498 in the district.
The district recorded 36 more deaths due to covid-19. Of these cases, 36 deaths Nagpur rural has solid share of 15 while 21 were the residents of Nagpur city. The cumulative deaths mounted to 2,083.
On Friday the district witnessed 1,318 persons becoming corona-free taking the cumulative recoveries to 54,806. Now, the recovery rate reads 75.18%.
Total active cases in the district are 15,791 while there is a slight rise in the number of persons tested for the virus.
The total samples examined in one single day are 6,947,
on Friday. The testing included the one performed through RTPCR and antigen at Government as well as private laboratories.
The samples were examined at virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (125), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (112), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (85), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (72), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (60),
private laboratories and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (479), Antigen (507).
