Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, interacted with Guardian Ministers and top officers of Nagpur Division through video-conferencing on Saturday and stressed upon the need to make people aware to contain the spread of COVID-19. He appealed to all the stakeholders to participate in ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign. Anil Deshmukh, Home Minister and Guardian Minister of Gondia district; Guardian Ministers Dr Nitin Raut (Nagpur); Vijay Wadettiwar (Chandrapur); Sunil Kedar (Wardha); Dr Vishwajeet Kadam (Bhandara); Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Commissioner; Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police; Chiranjeev Prasad, Special Inspector General of Police; Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner; Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, interacted with the Chief Minister.
 
Addressing the ministers and officers, Thackeray said that ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign needed to be made successful to prepare a health status map of Maharashtra, get real inputs about ground situation, and to chalk out strategy to make Maharashtra COVID-19-free. The campaign must be implemented effectively to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as there were challenges in making available facilities and trained manpower including doctors to treat rising number of patients till the vaccine was out. He assured to approve proposals regarding augmentation of medical/healthcare facilities relating to COVID-19. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Radhakrishnan B, Yogesh Kumbhejkar apprised the Chief Minister of efforts taken in Nagpur district.
 
Others also made similar presentations. Dr Nitin Raut spoke on reasons behind increase in deaths due to COVID-19 in Nagpur district. Anil Deshmukh raised demand to set up a COVID-19 testing laboratory in Gondia. Wadettiwar said that a state-of-the-art COVID Care Hospital was being created in Chandrapur district. Kedar and Dr Kadam shed light on situation in Wardha and Bhandara districts respectively. The Chief Minister asked for State-wide implementation of ‘Thank You, ASHAtai’ initiative of Gadchiroli district. Thackeray said that enacting laws or imposing fine would not be a solution to contain the spread of COVID-19. For the purpose, door-to-door surveillance, health check-up of all individuals, qualitative and quantative increase in COVID-19 testing, improving healthcare infrastructure in consultation with doctors etc would help. He also asked the officers to put in place prohibitory mechanism to ensure that people did not move out of homes for festivals and celebrations. Ajoy Mehta, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister; Sitaram Kunte, Additional Chief Secretary; Dr Pradeep Vyas, Secretary of Health Department, also interacted with officers.
