With the announcement of date of by-poll, Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in Marwahi Assembly Constituency of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Reena Baba Saheb Kangale on Tuesday said that notification for the by-poll will be issued on October 9 followed by last date for filing of nomination will be October 16.
 
It is to be mentioned, this constituency is reserved for ST candidates. The scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 17, while the last date for the withdrawal of nomination is October 19. Voting will take place on November 3 followed by counting of vote will be held on November 10. Voting will be taken place at 286 polling stations including 49 auxiliary centres. All the polling stations are in rural areas. 126 polling stations have been identified as sensitive ones. Keeping in mind Corona pandemic and instructions of Election Commission of India, voters’ limit has been limited to 1000 for each polling stations. All the polling stations will be sanitised a day before the voting day.
 
Soap, water and sanitisers would be kept outside polling stations for voters apart from thermal scanning facility. If a voter is found with higher temperature than the prescribed limit then he or she will be allowed to vote an hour before the closure of the voting. Voters should follow the social distancing norms for which necessary arrangements will be made.
 
Globes will be presented to all the voters. Postal ballot facility has been provisioned for physically challenged voters, voters above 80 and covid positive/suspect voters. As many as 1,90,907 voters, including 4,211 voters between age group of 18 and 19 and 1461 above 80, are registered in Marwahi. Candidates need to file online nomination and affidavit and they will have to keep the photocopy of affidavit after notarisation. Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be used for voting. A mock poll was already done. Additional Chief Electoral Officer K C Devsenapati, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Vipin Majhi and Dr K R R Singh were also present during the press conference held through virtual mode.
