TO KEEP public and students in particular healthy, the Vidarbha Karate Association wants sports activities to start soon. After the lockdown there were some concessions in holding of certain sports events. But no indoor activity is still permitted and there is also restriction on number of participants. Vidarbha Karate Association, Nagpur organised a small programme at Swami Vivekanand Smarak, Ambazari recently urging the authorities to let more sports activities start.

“It is our humble request to the all the authorities concerned that they give permission to start sports clubs in India to keep students healthy. We are ready to abide by all rules and regulations and will take all precautions. This request is on behalf of all coaches to Sports Ministry of India also,” said Vijay Ghichare, secretary of the association. It may also be mentioned here that recently, over two hundred badminton coaches from all over Maharashtra came under a common platform and approached the state and central governments with plea to start badminton coaching in indoor halls. Coaches of many other sports and many gym owners too are making efforts in their own way to get things started.

Presently, the relaxation is only for outdoor non-team sports like golf, outdoor firing range, outdoor gymnastics, tennis, outdoor badminton and malkhambh. Other outdoor activities including cycling, walking were permitted with social distancing and other guidelines. Sports activities were stopped since March when the nation went into complete lockdown.
