Drivers of private buses staged demonstration at Nadra Bus stand on Saturday demanding fare hike with full capacity of passengers in the vehicle. They said that fuel price has increased by manifold and it would not be feasible for them to run vehicle on old fare along with the social distancing.

They said they are not going to resume the service until Government allow 50 per cent fare hike. Gopal Pegwar, State Secretary of MP Bus Owners Association, said, “we are not only demanding for the tax relaxation. We are also demanding for fare hike as fuel price have surged and there is no fare hike for past four years. It would not be feasible for us to run the vehicle at such price. We have been also asked to follow social distancing in the bus so it would not be possible to run vehicle for only ten passengers.”

He further said that main demand of the association is fare hike. “Moreover we have not received the tax wave off order in written form. Untill Government send us the tax wave off and fare hike order in written, we are not going to resume the service,” he added.
