CM takes stock of coronavirus situation in State

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel along with his cabinet minister on Sunday held a meeting with district collectors, superintendents of police (SPs) and chief medical and health officers (CMHOs) through video conferencing from Chief Minister’s official residence to take stock of the coronavirus situation in the State. Baghel discussed with Cabinet ministers and officers about preventive measures for COVID-19 pandemic and received suggestions from them in the meeting.
 
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Baghel said that an atmosphere of fear has been created in the minds of common people especially patients in view of spiking coronavirus infection cases in the State and it needs to be overcome. The Chief Minister said that there is a need to enhance the morale of the corona patients admitted for treatment in the hospitals of the State. Baghel said that the health condition of corona patients should be examined regularly and doctors should visit the corona wards regularly for treatment of corona patients. Arrangements should be made to provide necessary counselling to corona patients either through telemedicine or video/WhatsApp calling, he added.
 
The Chief Minister has directed all the collectors to make better treatment facilities for corona patients at district level. As per requirement, services of private hospital can be taken for treatment of corona patients at district level. For it, rate should be fixed for treatment of corona patients at the private hospitals, he added. It has been decided in the meeting to keep asymptomatic corona patients in home isolation. For this, the asymptomatic patients should be motivated to keep in home isolation that will reduce burden on hospitals, said Baghel.
 
 
If more than one member of a family is found corona positive, the family and the people who come in contact with the patient should be provided prophylactic drug kit for corona testing as precautionary measure and they should be given advice how to use the medicine according to standard operating procedure (SOP). Heart, kidney, lever, high blood pressure patients, who infect corona positive, should be admitted in the hospitals on priority. It is the priority of the state government to save the life of corona and serious corona patients. For it, all necessary arrangements for treatment of corona patients should be made in the hospitals, he told the officers, he added.
 
The Chief Minister has asked the collectors to strictly ensure the enforcement of preventive measures for containment of coronavirus infections in the districts. The collectors have been authorized to declare containment zones according to local situations. The Chief Minister said that Health Department should make people aware about preventive measure of COVID-19 pandemic by distributing pamphlets, posters and other materials. The Chief Minister has directed the collectors to deploy one officer at each government hospital to monitor corona situation. All corona wards and toilets should be cleaned daily in the hospitals, he added. The Chief Minister has asked the collectors and the officers of the Health Department to take stern action on the complaints of black marketing of medicines and medical equipments. Baghel asked the officers to distribute Kada churna made of herbal products to enhance the immunity power in people. Health Minister T S Singhdeo, who participated in the meeting through video conferencing, said that coronavirus infection is increasing in the state after easing of lockdown.
 
 
The Health Minister said that it is should be strictly ensured to follow corona norms and people should be advised to take measures to enhance immunity power. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, who also participated in the meeting through video conferencing, gave various suggestions for containment of COVID-19 pandemic. Minister Choubey said that asymptomatic and mild asymptomatic patients should be treated through home isolation. Choubey suggested that people should be made aware about COVID-19 pandemic in Gram Sabha in rural areas of the state.
 
Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Urban Administration Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Women and Child Development Department Minister Anil Bhedia and Public Health Engineering Department Minister Guru Rudra Kumar also gave various suggestions for containment of COVID-19 pandemic. Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Renu G Pillay informed the meeting that over 41,000 corona positive cases have been detected in Chhattisgarh so far, in which over 20,000 patients have been cured. India’s case fatality rate is 1.72 per cent while Chhattisgarh’s case fatality rate is only 0.84 per cent. At present, 22,606 beds are lying vacant for corona patients in the hospitals of the state. Around 2500 people are in home isolation in the state, he added. Chief Secretary R P Mandal, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Subrat Sahoo, Director of Health Services Neeraj Bansod, Director of National Health Mission Dr Priyanka Shukla and other officers were present in the meeting.
