MAYANK Ranade won his first district title by emerging champion in the 12th Online Blitz Chess Tournament (OLBCT) organised by Nagpur District Chess Association through the lichess.org platform. Ranade finished at the same score of 7.5 as Sumedh Ramteke had garnered but a much better tie-break score of 42 as compared to that of Ramteke (35.5) earned the former a title.
 
Total 39 players participated in the tournament. In all nine rounds were played. In the final round, Ranade outsmarted Ameya Godbole, who was the sole leader at the end of eighth round with seven points. On his way to the title, Ranade got the better of Aparnita Jagtap, Sunil Parkar, Jay Sawalakhe, Sadanand Mahajan, Nilay Kulkarni, Sumedh Ramteke, Ameya Godbole. He was held to a draw by Rounak Godbole while Suhan Deshpande was the only player who defeated Ranade (in the fourth round). The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Swapnil Bansod, IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude.
