Sanyukt Kisan Morcha leaders members Shivkumar Kakkaji (Madhya Pradesh) and Sardar Jagjeet Singh Dallewal (Punjab) have reiterated that untill Central Government does not withdraw three contentious farm laws, dharna at borders of New Delhi will continue. Speaking to mediapersons in State capital on Thursday, Shivkumar Kakkaji and Sardar Jagjeet Singh Dallewal said that braving biting cold conditions, lakhs of farmers are staging protest at the borders of New Delhi. They claimed that so far, 44 farmers have lost their lives during the course of movement.

They added that farmers’ movement is underway under the banner of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and a seven-member committee is conducting the movement. Through the medium of movement, four demands have been made including (1) repeal of three controversial farm laws (2) making law on MSP (3) cancellation of proposed electricity bill (4) stop exploitation of farmers over stubble burning.

They informed that so far, six rounds of meetings took place between farmer organisations and Central Government. On December 8, thirteen farmer leaders have formal discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “The bone of contention remains on first two demands including repealing of three farm laws,” they told. In the meantime, farmer leaders and Centre, on December 30, reached on an agreement on proposed electricity bill issue and stubble burning issue. The next meeting of farmers with Central Government will take place on January 4. Shivkumar Kakkaji told that demonstration of farmers will continue till major demands including repealing of three new farm laws are not met. Coming heavily on central government, he said that demonstration will continue even for months or year if centre does not repeal three new farm laws. Moreover, both Shivkumar Kakkaji and Sardar Jagjeet Singh Dallewal appealed farmers to join the movement in large number.
