District authorities are on alert mode with the death of more than one dozen pigeons and other birds in last two days in the district. Four more birds were found dead at the bank of river Gaur, on Friday. Taking precautionary and preventionary measures, District Rapid Response teams of Animal Husbandry Department collected samples of dead birds and sent it for high level laboratory tests at National High Security Disease Laboratory, Bhopal.
 
Under the direction of District Administration, separate teams of Forest Department, Police Department and Civic Administration are working on alert mode to avert the spread of infectious disease amongst birds in the district. Similarly, all the departments concerned like veterinary, local administration, Health Department, Water Resource Department and Fishery Department are on high alert to take preventive measures to check the spread of the disease. On the direction of Collector, Karmveer Sharma, Animal Husbandry Department has established District Level Control Room with contact numbers 94258-18439, 94254-38437, 83052-13310 and 98939-94400 to collect such kind of information, complaints and providing necessary guidance to farmers. Deputy Director, Dr S K Bajpai informed that in case of finding dead birds, residents may contact the control room. He said, “There is no need to panic as there is no incident of spreading any kind of disease in birds at poultry farms but residents should take necessary precautions and establish contact with control room for any kind of complaint or query.”
