Union Jalshakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that “ We will not let Madhya Pradesh be affected by the allocation of water from Ken Betwa Link Project. At the same time, interests of Uttar Pradesh will also be fully protected. He will soon find a final solution in this connection in a joint meeting with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath,”.
 
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh has always been caring for interests of other states, but care will also be taken that state is not adversely affected. Madhya Pradesh has agreed to provide 700 MCM water to Uttar Pradesh from the Ken-Betwa project. The impasse of scheme will be resolved soon through negotiations Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath under leadership of Union Minister Shekhawat. Chief Minister placed Madhya Pradesh firmly in the meeting over water allocation. Union Jalshakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was holding a meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and all senior concerned officials regarding distribution of water from Ken Betwa Link Project. Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Director of National Jaljeevan Mission Bharat Lal, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources S.N. Mishra etc. were present. A discussion on utilization of water use was held between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project cum Parvati Kalisindh Chambal Link Project during the meeting. In this connection, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat directed that two sides should find a solution through regular negotiations in 15 days from January 15.
 
The DPR of this project has calculated water usage at 50 percent dependence on water for proposed dams and barrages. Madhya Pradesh says that it should be revised on the basis of estimation on 75 percent water dependence. Madhya Pradesh on Ken-Betwa link project: Allocation of 700 MCM water from the dam to Uttar Pradesh for all purposes including Link Canal on the basis of availability of 6590 MCM water at Daudhan Dam in Madhya Pradesh during non-monsoon has been approved. Accounting of 1700 MCM of water allotted to Uttar Pradesh should be done on Bariyarpur pick-up Weir while including the water supplied to Uttar Pradesh through Link Canal. Madhya Pradesh will remain free to use the remaining 2733 MCM of water. The side of Uttar pradesh: Under the project, Uttar Pradesh wants 935 MCM of water from the Daudhan Dam from November to May in the non-monsoon period.
