Lack of coordination among agencies like PWD, Energy Department, Corporation is a major issue
 
 
The heart-rending fire incident that took place at Bhandara District Hospital can take place in any of the Government hospitals including those run by Nagpur Municipal Corporation at Nagpur. The reason, these hospitals too have not done their fire safety audit and electrical safety audit. They too are in danger zone because of several reasons including the age of the building, the congestion, etc. Public Works Department (PWD), Electrical Department, Corporation are lacking coordination among them. The hospitals like Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Indira Gandhi 
 
 
Will take stock of hospitals: Mayor Expressing his deep shock over the incident at Bhandara, Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor told ‘The Hitavada’, “I would immediately call the meeting on Monday and take stock of the hospitals run by NMC. I shall take all details from the health officials and if there are loopholes in those hospitals then accordingly we will chalk of the plan to remove those. I shall also get the information whether there are other deficiencies apart from fire safety and if there are such then we will take the measures.”
 
GMCH Dean calls urgent meeting Alarmed by the incident at Bhandara that horrified everybody, Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dr Sajal Mitra has convened an urgent meeting on Sunday. The persons associated with the administration including officials from PWD, Electrical Department attended it. Dr Mitra interacted with all and chalked out a rough plan regarding taking measures for fire and electrical safety. The sources in GMCH said, “Dr Mitra has suggested certain measures like shifting the position of Intensive Care Unit in the paediatrics ward in GMCH taking it at a safer place. He has put the problems can be faced by this big hospital and gathered suggestions. A report will be prepared and to be submitted with Department of Medical Education.”
