Prof Anantram Tripathi, Pradhan Mantri of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti (RPS), died of heart attack around 4.30 am on Sunday. He was 89. His mortal remains have been kept at his residence for darshan. The funeral procession will be taken out from RPS premises at 9.30 am on Monday after which the last rites will be performed at local Mokshadham. Prof Tripathi leaves behind son Saroj, three daughters-- Nalini, Kusum and Anita, grandchildren and a host of relatives to mourn the loss.
 
A condolence meeting has been organised at Rameshwar Dayal Dubey Auditorium in RPS premises at 11 am on Tuesday. Born on January 7, 1933 at Pachrao village in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), Prof Tripathi earlier served as Videsh Avam Sahayak Mantri and Pariksha Mantri. He was serving as Pradhan Mantri of RPS from July 14, 1997. He was the member of all committees of RPS and executive body member of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University. He was chief editor of magazine ‘Rashtrabhasha’ since 1997. He also served as advisory committee member of over 10 ministries of Union Government. He had edited around 25 books of RPS and was honoured with many national and international awards.
 
A pall of gloom descended over RPS following his demise. Chancellor of MGIHU Prof Rajneesh Kumar Shulka, former Chancellor Prof Girishwar Mishra, senior litterateur Chitra Mudgal, Pandit Shankar Prasad Agnihotri, Prof Ram Mohan Pathak, Prof Hanuman Prasad Shukla, Prof Chandrakant Ragit, Madan Gupta, Kailash Pant, Dr O P Gupt , Kaushal Mishra, Pradip Datey and others have expressed their condolence over the demise of Prof Tripathi.

Purohit condoles Tripathi’s death Condoling the death of Professor Anantram Tripathi, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit said, “The sad demise of Shri Anantramji Tripathi, Pradhan Mantri of Rashrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha, at a ripe age of 89 is a great personal loss of a cohort with whom I worked to promote the interests of Hindi for long, long years. Tripathiji’s contribution to Hindi would never be forgotten by the future generations. He breathed the Hindi and devoted all his energies to its service in a tireless manner, unique only to him.” In his condolence message Purohit further said, “Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha has lost not just a leader but also a friend, philosopher and guide whose words of wisdom will now only be remembered but not available personally. At a time when Hindi is assuming a greater significance at the international level, I place on record a great sense of loss for all lovers of Hindi throughout the world. May Professor Anantramji Tripathi’s soul rest in peace.”
