MAHARASHTRA Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that economic offenders and anti-social elements would be dealt with sternly so that justice would be meted out to citizens. After hearing complaints of about 68 persons, mostly victims of property-related crimes, at a special grievance redressal camp organised at Police Gymkhana, Deshmukh directed the officials concerned to look into the problems faced by them on priority and initiate appropriate action against the offenders.

A first of its kind initiative by the Home Minister, Deshmukh had kicked off the camp at Cottage No 11, Ravi Bhavan in August last year. He had appealed to the citizens from Nagpur City and district to submit their complaints to him in writing. He then heard the grievances of 50 persons in October 2020. On Monday, Deshmukh had received complaints from 75 citizens. Of them, 68 personally attended the camp and narrated their problems.

Remaining seven did not turn up. The Home Minister interacted with the victims of economic offences, land mafia and others in the presence of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials in the district administration. Deshmukh also discussed the action to be initiated on the complaints with senior officials from Police Department, NMC, NIT, Cooperative Department, and Land Records. “Such camps are strengthening the police-public bond,” Deshmukh said and added, “The law enforcers are working effectively to bring down crime rate with the cooperation of Nagpurians.” At the outset, City Police Chief Amitesh Kumar welcomed Home Minister Deshmukh with a floral bouquet.

The proceedings of the camp were conducted by Deputy Commissioner of Police (EoW) Vivek Masal. Additional Commissioners of Police Sunil Fulari (Crime), Naveenchandra Reddy (South Region) and Dilip Zalke (North Region), Deputy Commissioners of Police Vinita Sahu (Zone-II), Lohit Matani (Zone-III), Akshay Shinde (Zone IV), Neelotpal (Zone-V), Sarang Awad (Traffic) Basawaraj Teli (Special Branch), Gajanan Rajmane (Detection) and Dr Sandeep Pakhale (Head Quarters) and others were prominently present.
