Rani Durgavati Hospital (Lady Elgin) consecutively for fourth time has won first position in the Kayakalp Abhiyan Rashtriya Puraskar. Marking the occasion of Swami Vivekanand Jayanti, the Kayakalp Award was organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India through virtual mode. Union Health Minister Dr Harshwardhan and Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Union Minister for Health for State announced the awards. In which District Hospital, Seoni, Betul and Bhind have also been awarded in the District Hospital category.
 
In the city, the programme was attended by Regional Director, Health, Dr Y S Thakur, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr Ratnesh Kurariya, Superintendent, Dr R K Khare, RMO, Dr Sanjay Mishra and other staff of Rani Durgavati Hospital. It may be mentioned that Kayakalp Abhiyan was initiated in 2015 to improve the infrastructure and work culture in the hospitals categorised in the District Hospital, Civil Hospital and Community Hospital and AIIMS. The assessment is carried out in three phases including internal, peer and final assessment.
 
The hospitals which score more than 70 percent marks are selected for the award on merit-basis. All the hospitals are assessed in seven areas including Hospital Upkeep, Sanitation and Hygiene, Waste Management, Infection Control, Support Services, Hygiene Promotion and Beyond Hospital Boundary.
