The Excise Department team raided two spots and seized 19 crates with illegal stock of English liquor and arrested two accused in Shastri Nagar and Madan Mahal areas in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The arrested have been identified as Ram Vishal Choudhary, resident of Shastri Nagar and Rahul alias Shanu Sen, son of Amar Narayan Sen, resident of near railway under bridge, behind Kanak Hotel in Madan Mahal.
 
Excise Control Room, In-charge, G L Maravi informed that under the direction of Collector Karmveer Sharma, excise team started a special campaign against illegal production and trade of liquor under the supervision of Assistant Excise Commissioner, S N Dubey. During the campaign, the Excise Department received information about illegal stock of liquor at a residence in Shastri Nagar. Acting promptly on the information, Excise team raided the identified house of Ram Vishal Choudhary and seized 16 bottles of illegal stock of English liquor. In further investigation, the accused informed that he received liquor stock from Rahul alias Shanu Sen, a resident of behind Kanak Hotel in Madan Mahal. On his identification, the Excise team raided the residence of Shanu Sen and seized 19-crates consists 170.28 bulk litres illegal stock of English liquor. Excise Department registered separate cases against the accused under Section 34(1)A and 34(2) of Madhya Pradesh Excise Act 1995 (Amended 2000). The raids were conducted by a police team comprising of Assistant Excise Officer, Ravishankar Yadav, , Constables, Narendra Uike, Ramesh Kushram, Nandlal Choudhary, Neklal Bagri, Rakesh Jadon, Anurag Sharma, Anand Gupta, Hanuman Barman and Ramesh Invati.
