To avoid opposition of a community over the construction on 30,000 square feet disputed land, Bhopal Collector Avinash Lavania imposed curfew in Hanumanganj, Gautam Nagar and Tila Jamalpura police station areas under Section 144. The order issued by the Collector said that a community was doing construction in Old City and there is a possibility that locals might oppose that, so in the view to avoid any untoward situation, Lavania issued restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC.

The order, issued on Monday morning, read that the State capital was a sensitive place in communal point of view. District Collector Avinash Lavania told ‘The Hitavada’ that two families belonging to different communities were fighting over a property dispute for years. He added that the verdict of the court is most likely to favour one community.

So, to avoid any form of clash, a curfew under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed in three police station areas in Bhopal, Lavania further said. Besides, prohibitory orders were also imposed in 11 other police station areas- Shahjehanabad, Chhola Mandir, Nishatpura, Talaiya, Mangalwara, Ashoka Garden, Aishbagh, Jehangirabad, Station Bajaria, Berasia and in Najirabad.
