The COVID-19 vaccination programme was kicked off in Durg District as per schedule at four centres, namely Durg District Hospital, PHC Nagpura, PHC Patan and SSIMS, Junwani. Vaccination was planned for 100 patients and 68 were vaccinated. The dosage of 0.5 ml of Covishield was given to every patient. The second dose shall follow after one month. A total of 10,226 vaccines have been allocated to Durg district in the first phase.

Orthopaedic Specialist and Covid Co-ordinator for Durg, Dr K D Tiwari, informed that some people faced anxiety and fear expecting local area pain, swelling, rashes and fever in the next few hours after vaccination. To dispel their fears, doctors got vaccinated first, including himself. There was no side effect and the vaccine was well tolerated. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Dr Tiwari disclosed that he is fit and fine and has not faced any adverse reaction whatsoever after more than 24 hours of vaccination, even though he is 60+, so he has appealed to people not to have any fears of getting vaccinated.
