Private and Government colleges reopened for students after almost nine months of lockdown on Friday. Surprisingly, on first day many students reached the college campus. Colleges displayed the roster plan of teaching and non-teaching staff to maintain the social distancing. Posters and pamphlets were displayed in colleges to make students aware of safety guidelines. Some colleges have displayed the notices at the main gate for hand sanitisation, face mask and social distancing. Colleges are reopened for the science students on Friday. For remaining UG, PG students colleges are being reopened from January 20.

 

Department of Higher Education (DHE) has also released guidelines for colleges to reopen the campus under safety protocols. The department has allowed private and Government colleges to start offline class for practical work from January 1 and general class from January 10. From January 20 onwards, 5 per cent students will be called to attend the class. According to DHE, it will be sole decision of students and parents whether to send the ward in college campus or continue online studies. None of the institutes will be pressurising students to attend the offline class.

 

On January 20, crisis management meeting will be held in all districts for further decision on regular class of college students. In this meeting, officials will review the situation of COVID-19 cases in state and further decision will be taken. Technical institutes are also reopened on Friday under certain terms and conditions. Safety protocols will be mandatory for all institutes.
