Day after the recognition of 240 private schools were revoked by District Education Office, Raipur, for the noncompliance of a State Government order regarding the formation of fee committee involving parents/guardians, School Education Department Principal Secretary Dr Alok Shukla on Tuesday said that private schools must stick to the law made by the State Government. “It is not about tormenting anybody. When the State Assembly has constituted a law, it is necessary for all to follow the same.

All the private schools across the state have been issued orders asking them to form fee committee ensuring active participation of parents/guardians in the committee. The committee should hold meetings at regular intervals and consult on fee structure of the schools,” said Dr Alok Shukla while talking to The Hitavada on Tuesday. Dr Shukla said that the decision of cancelling recognition of private schools will be taken back if the schools comply with the provisions of Private School Fee Regulatory Act 2020 and constitute committee in their respective schools. It is to be mentioned, District Education Officer G R Chandrakar issued an order cancelling the recognition for not forming fee committee despite several reminders.

The private schools facing the action of recognition cancellation were asked to submit their student details and other details to block education offices of their respective development blocks. The DEO also issued an order to withheld salary of 142 nodal principals till the next order. The nodal principals had to ensure implementation of fee committee rules in the schools. The DEO also held carelessness of the nodal principals for the same. As per the Act, the fee regulatory committee of private schools will recommend the fee structures to the district committee which works under the supervision of District Collector. There is also provision of fine of Rs 50000 if a school is found in violation of rules and fine will be multiplied every time a school repeats its mistake.
