Continue to act tough against shopkeepers, street vendors and general public who create uncleanliness at public places, the health department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, on Tuesday conducted drive in a number of areas and took spot fine from erring people. Senior officials of the department also fined shopkeepers for not keeping dustbins at their establishments. Officials informed that they issued challan to as many as 104 people including shopkeepers and vendors and realised spot fine of Rs 19,620 from them.
 
Officials said following the directions of Administrator, B Chandrashekhar and Municipal Commissioner Anoop Kumar Singh the health department is continuously carrying out drive in all 79 wards of the city. Likewise, the department is also creating public awareness towards cleanliness through various means. It is also requesting people to help the civic body in keeping the city clean. Likewise, the special teams of the department are also conducting special drive and acting tough against citizens who despite repeated requests are not helping the Municipal Corporation in maintaining cleanliness at public places.
 
They said the Municipal Commissioner is reviewing the on-going drive regularly and asked the senior officials to act sternly with those creating uncleanliness in the city by dumping garbage along road or throwing the same in drains or nullahs. Singh has also asked to further expedite the drive and take action erring people.
