REMOVAL of curbs on domestic travel, cinema halls and similar other relaxations by the Central Government are happy pointers of the COVID-19 situation in the country scaling down to manageable levels. While the Centre has asked the States and Union Territories to maintain surveillance and follow containment measures, the fact remains that substantial gains have been achieved against spread of the virus.

Declining number of people testing positive for the virus and normal life beginning in almost every part of the country are proof of India’s good handling of the situation. Normalcy is expected to return to every sector soon, as can be gauged from the latest safety guidelines issued by the MHA. With the arrival of COVID-19 vaccine and successful beginning of the world’s biggest immunisation drive, India is now in a happy zone where it can build on the gains.

The relaxations will now bring back a lot of lives on track, especially in the cinema sector and sports. Cinema owners were among the worst victims of the lockdown and desperately sought measures to restart economic activity. The swimmers, too, can now go back to their daily splash.
