Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President for Scheduled Caste Front Lal Singh Arya has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for increasing post-matric scholarship of Scheduled Caste students to Rs 59,000 crore from Rs 1,100 crore. He said that with this decision of Modi Government, future of Scheduled Caste students will become bright. Addressing a press conference at BJP office in Bhopal, Lal Singh Arya told that it was in the year 1944 that scholarship started for Scheduled Caste students in country.

Congress remained in power for 57 years in the country and for 45 years in Madhya Pradesh. Owing to financial crunch, crores of students of Scheduled Caste left their studies in midway and governments hardly bothered in this regard. Had Congress governments given a thought in this regard then crores of Schedule Caste students would have not left schools. Now NDA Government is going to increase post-matric scholarship of Scheduled Caste students from Rs 1,100 crore to Rs 59,000 crores.

He said currently, 60 lakh students of Scheduled Caste get this scholarship. Now Modi Government will bring 4 crore students of Schedule Caste under ambit of post-matric scholarship. Along with this, Government will also launch door to door campaign to bring back 1.36 crore drop out students of Schedule Caste to schools. He added that under post-matric scholarship scheme, Central Government will give sixty per cent while forty per cent amount has to be shared by state governments. First state governments will do registration of students and will deposit its share of amount into the account of students. Later, Central Government will deposit its share of amount into the account of students (of SC category). Minister Meena Singh was also present in the press conference.
