PRANAB Ghosh, Tushar Mankar and Amit Shende made winning starts in the Woodshot Open Snooker Tournament that got under way at Woodshot Pool ‘N’ Snooker Club in Himalaya Harmony, Pratap Nagar Square on Sunday. In opening round matches on Day One, all the players recorded an identical 2-1 win over their respective rivals in the best of three frame matches.
 
Ghosh beat Amanpreet Padam 2-1 (74-36, 33-68, 93-19), Mankar defeated Shubham Paunikar 2-1 (79-23, 32-74, 50-44) while Shende pipped Harpreet Saluja 2-1 (22-55, 64-23, 50-44). At the outset, the event was inaugurated by Dr Kartikeya Chaturvedi, Administrator and Physician, Chaturvedi Surgical Hospital.
 
The initial rounds will be best of three frame affairs. Quarter-finals and semi-finals will be of five frames while the final will be of best of seven frames. Winner will bag a big purse of 20,000 while the second best will up Rs 10,000 as cash reward. The losing semi-finalist (two) will take home Rs 5000 each. There will also be a cash prize of Rs 4,000 for the Highest Break (50+).
