WITH an aim of spreading message of Fit India Movement and awareness on drowning prevention, five swimmers of Maharashtra will swim from Arnala Fort to Vasai Fort on January 5, informs Jayant Duble, President of JD Sports Youth Foundation through a press release.
 
Kalamb Sports Foundation, Vijay Patil Foundation and Water Sports Lovers of Vasai, Palghar are jointly organising the expedition, the release adds. The swimmers are Prabhat Raju Koli, an international swimmer who has swam six out of seven channels; promising national swimmers Rakesh Ravindra Kadam, Kartik Sanjay Gugle, Shardul Vidyadhar Gharat and 12-year-old Jiya Rai, holder of world record in open water swimming for girls with autism spectrum disorder.
 
JD Sports Youth Foundation will spread the message of FIT India Movement, drowning prevention awarene
ss and promote open water swimming among the youth and citizens of India through this expedition. Swimming Association of Maharashtra (SAM), a unit of Swimming Federation of India, will provide technical support and supervise this expedition. SAM has appointed Dr Jaiprakash Duble as Chief Observer while respective observers from Mumbai for the five swimmers are — Subodh Sule, Umesh Utekar, Sanket Sawant, Manish Bhoi and Ajit Marde. Kishor Shetty, Dr Sambhaji Bhonsale and Satish Patil of SAM will also be a part of this expedition. Jayant Duble, who is a student of Jyotiba College of Physical Education, Nagpur, is working throughout Maharashtra to aware youth, students and citizens about drowning prevention and FIT India Movement by organising various related programmes. JD Sports Youth Foundation will felicitate the swimmers at Vasai Fort. Palghar district of Maharashtra have a deep cultures of beaches and forts with heritage value. This is first event to be conducted between two forts in Palghar district. The Arnala and Vasai forts had their own strategic importance and those provided logistics support to Maratha Navy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
