Fake invoices: CGST arrests prop of Gurukripa Associates

The Anti Evasion Branch of CGST and Central Excise, Nagpur-II Commissionerate on Monday arrested Vikesh Kailash Joshi, proprietor of M/s Gurukripa Associates (GSTIN-27AYYPJ5625L1ZL) on charges of fraudulently issuing invoices amounting to (invoice value) Rs 18,66,98,167 involving GST of Rs 2.58 crore.
 
During the investigation of M/s. Gurukripa Associates, the Anti Evasion Branch of CGST and Central Excise, Nagpur-II Commissionerate have found that the proprietor of the firm Vikesh Kailash Joshi has indulged in issuing fake invoices resulting in passing on total Input Tax Credit (ITC) of GST amounting to Rs 2,58,35,524 to various taxpayers by filing GSTR-1 return for the period January, 2019 to November, 2019 without actual supply of goods i.e. building material, MS scarp so as to enable the recipients to utilise ineligible Input Tax Credit based on such fake Invoices.
 
It was also found that he was actively involved in issuance of fake invoices on behalf of other non existent firms. Vikesh Kailash Joshi was accordingly arrested under authorisation issued by the Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-II under Section 69(1) of CGST Act, 2017 read with Section 132(1)(ii) of CGST Act 2017, says a press note issued here by Neelesh Rautkar, Additional Commissioner, CGST and Central Excise, Nagpur-II.
