 Shabbi Sheikh (L) recorded the highest break of 67 in his opening round match against Omkar Umate. Aditya Motghare (R) managed to get the better of Abhinav Nainani to move not the second round.

SHABBI Sheikh, with a break of 67, and Jaswinder Singh recorded convincing wins in their respective opening round matches in the Woodshot Open Snooker Tournament in progress at Woodshot Pool ‘N’ Snooker Club in Himalaya Harmony, Pratap Nagar Square on Monday. Sheikh registered a break of over fifty that is considered rare in this form of the sport on his way to blanking Omkar Umate 2-0 (107-16, 71-23).
 
Singh also beat his opponent Mohit Varma by an identical margin 2-0 (66-33, 39-35). In other matches of the first round on Day Two of the tourney, Ankur Dhoble pipped Pramod Tikte 2-1 (77-20, 54-62, 50-43), Aditya Motghare narrowly beat Abhinav Nainani 2-1 (54-36, 11-71, 48-47) and Pankaj Rathod survived scare from Girish Shirke 2-1 (33-75, 49-48, 47-41).
