BMC Commissioner KVS Chaudhary inspected Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste recycling plant at Dhuankheda on Tuesday. He directed officials to ensure completion of waste recycling plant within stipulated time frame. Waste transfer station at Dhuankheda was expected to be completed by September 8, 2020, then deadline was extended to December but even after new year the plant is not yet complete.

Now it is expected to be completed by February this year. Construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling plant in Dhuankheda is about to be completed soon. This plant is developed worth Rs 3.80 crore. The C&D waste recycling plant is meant for recycled items such as recycled sand, stones, bricks and tiles. It is mandatory for all Government departments to use at least 10-20 per cent of recycled items in each building project and the same being mandated by C&D Waste Rules (2016).

When various agencies dump tonnes of C&D waste mixed with plastic, twigs, rags and iron pieces at our plants, they hardly care how difficult it is to refine them and create usable products and for this now BMC is geared up to ensure C and D waste does not mix with other waste and can be utilised effectively. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner KVS Chaudhary inspected the site and gave directions to officials to complete construction within stipulated time frame. A waste transfer station is also being developed art Dhuankheda which will facilitate to transport segregated waste from suburbs to Kolar waste transfer station directly.
