AICC names Wasnik, Dr Raut as observers for elections

Tamil Nadu, Assam, Puducherry, State Assemblies are going to polls this year
 
 
With State Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam are round the corner, All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed some leaders as Senior Observers for overseeing election campaign management and co-ordination in these states where polls would be held in 2021. Names of city leaders Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister and Mukul Wasnik, senior Congressman are in these leaders. Dr Nitin Raut has been given the responsibility of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry while Wasnik will be observer in Assam State Assembly elections.
 
The letter signed by K C Venugopal, General Secretary of AICC says these leaders will discharge their duties in close coordination with AICC General Secretaries and in-charges in the respective states. Tamil Nadu elections to be held in on May 28, 2021 for the 234 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu. This will be the first full-state legislative election without stalwarts like J. Jayalalithaa of AIADMK and M. Karunanidhi (DMK).
 
Jayalalithaa passed away in 2016 and Karunanidhi died in 2018. Puducherry Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian union territory (UT) of Puducherry. The legislative assembly has 33 seats, of which 5 are reserved for Scheduled Castes while 3 are nominated by Government of India. 30 are elected directly on the basis of universal adult franchise. Assam State Assembly elections will be held in April 2021. Bharatiya Janata Party is in power at present. Wasnik will be Senior Observer in Assam.
