Chief Minister instructs to remain vigilant against bird flu 
 
Poultry will be banned for a limited period from the border states of Kerala, and South India. This temporary prohibition has been imposed as a precautionary measure. This step has been taken as a precaution after reports of death of crows in some places of the State. Confirmation of the disease is awaited from National Institute of High Security Diseases (NISHAD) in the districts from where such news has been received. As a precautionary measure, an alert has been issued for control and mitigation of disease throughout the State. Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed officials that all efforts should be taken for prevention and control of bird flu, an infectious disease found in chickens in Madhya Pradesh. Even though such cases have not come up in Madhya Pradesh, all precautions should be taken, he said.
 
Chouhan held a meeting with senior officials at his residence on Wednesday morning to review efforts being taken for prevention and control of bird flu in state. Presently, there is no such problem in the State, necessary precautionary measures have been taken. The districts have been made aware of the guidelines issued by the Government of India. He issued instructions to follow guidelines in districts. Along with this, instructions were given to Animal Husbandry Department and allied departments and agencies to be vigilant in this matter, conduct random checks and provide necessary information to the public. He said that the poultry farms in places where deaths of birds have been reported, should also be monitored as a precautionary measure. It was informed in meeting that daily status of bird flu in state is being conveyed to the Government of India.
