City to host maiden State air gun competition

THE Maharashtra Air Gun Competition, 2021 will be held at Priyadarshini Campus, Hingna Road, Nagpur on the January 10, informs Chandrakant Deshmukh, General Secretary of Nagpur District Rifle Association. The event, to be conducted by the Maharashtra Rifle Association, Mumbai is being hosted by the Nagpur District Rifle Association, Nagpur.
 
The Pre Event Training (PET) for the competition is scheduled on January 9 from 09.00 am to 03.00 pm. It is for the first time that a State-level competition of shooting sports will be held in the city. It is a matter of pride as Nagpur is fast emerging as a hub for competitive shooting sports.
 
As many as 70 aspirants are likely to participate in the event after which they will become eligible for the zonal championships and later the All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championships. On account of the COVID-19 pandemic, strict protocols have been put in place and entry to the venue is restricted to participant and one support person/staff only. With more such sport shooting events likely to be conducted in the future, Nagpur shooting enthusiasts can look forward for better days and awareness of the sport in the region.
