Congress has decided to organise ‘Kisan Sammelans’ to make farmers aware about consequences of three controversial farm laws as it thinks that Madhya Pradesh farmers are not well aware about three new laws and their impact. This was informed by former Chief Minister Kamal Nath during a press conference at Congress office in the State capital on Thursday.

Giving information about farmer conventions to be organised by Congress in support of farmers’ movement against three farm laws, he said that big danger from three farm laws is about MSP. He said that these laws will empower private companies which will force farmers for contract farming and farmers will have no option. He added that these new laws even prevent farmers from going to court over any dispute (in contract farming). These laws are meant for privatisation of agriculture land and this will change market condition and consumers will be also affected.

He said that the Congress is going to organise Kisan Sammelan in Chhindwara on January 16 and on January 20, ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ will be organised in Morena. Talking about farmers’ movement, he said that it will take many turns. Training guns towards BJP, he told that Jan Sangh, RSS and BJP have always favoured market economy. Talking about Madhya Pradesh’s farmer situation, he said that in last 10 years, State is doing bumper production and had left Haryana and Punjab behind in wheat production. Accusing Central Government of trying to diminish FCI, he said that the Congress demands that a law should be made making mandatory for purchase of agriculture produce on MSP. Former CM Digvijay Singh, former Union Minister Suresh Pachauri, Arun Yadav, Sajjan Singh Verma, P C Sharma, Jitu Patwari were present on the occasion.
