THE pace of development works going on in various sectors of the country is a soothing change from the earlier culture of “laying only foundation stones for electoral benefits”. A hard taskmaster that he is, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has ensured a foolproof system of checks and balances to oversee actual implementation of plans on the ground through the “Pragati” platform for proactive governance of projects involving the Centre and State Governments. Mr. Modi’s latest review of projects worth Rs 50,000 crore in seven States has sent a healthy message to the society about the seriousness of this regime in delivering on their electoral promises. Almost every sector has seen a rapid expansion of capacities via development projects. Infrastructure and power sectors lead the list but all the success must be attributed to the missionary zeal of the Prime Minister in providing the best of facilities to the people. The review platform is a perfect mechanism to do away with stagnancy in thought process and pumping in an additional sense of repsonsibility even in the lowest rung. Accountability is the buzzword for the Prime Minister which has made sure that development remains a reality.

 

 

GIVEN the growing attempts by militant groups operating out of the Kashmir Valley and also by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to break into the social media groups used by Indian security personnel, the advice by Intelligence agencies to stay away from using social media has to be taken absolutely seriously by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Everyone is aware of the vulnerabilities of the social media platform and the overzealous attempts by anti-India forces to use those in spreading rumours and misinformation in the country. In this wake, the Intel sources have sounded the most sane advice for the security personnel to use a secure network of communication especially at sensitive locations in border areas. The evolving situation in Afghanistan and growing terror activities near the Line of Control (LoC) entail a watertight communication system for the Indian security forces lest sensitive information is leaked to the rogue elements. The hacking community is always in an overdrive to infiltrate into important domains including national security. Taking into account the dangers of social media platforms, a time-bound ban for security forces is justified.
