A total of 1.73 lakh devotees took darshan at Deekshabhoomi on Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, strictly adhering to Covid-19 guidelines. The head count was based on the digital cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) installed in the historic premises, said Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar. The CP said that the cameras were installed at the entry and exit points of the Stupa (sanctum sanctorum) at Deekshabhoomi for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din bandobast. This was the first time in the history of Nagpur police that the AI equipped cameras were used to count the number of devotees visiting the iconic premises. Apart from calculating persons entering and coming out of the premises, it also showed the live number of persons present inside the Stupa.

Apart from these cameras, the police had also installed 57 additional cameras in the area apart from 20 cameras of smarak samiti. Five surveillance vehicles also were deployed for the bandobast monitoring law and order with the help of drones. It may be mentioned that the police had planned three-layer security arrangements at Deekshabhoomi with the deployment of more than 2,500 police personnel along with Dog squads, Crime Branch, Traffic police, SRPF and Quick Response Team. Joint teams of Nagpur police and Nagpur Municipal Corporation were deployed at the entry point Another police officer said that there was huge rush at the Deekshabhoomi for the whole day as devotees from across the country came for darshan. No untoward incident was reported during the bandobast.
